The Piper P28 Cherokee Warrior aircraft is a single engine low mounted fixed wing aircraft seating a total of 4 persons including the pilot. This small plane is popular as a personal aircraft, flight trainer and air taxi. I first ran into this small airplane when I was training to be a pilot as the training school had several for student instruction. I found the airplane had good visibility on landing and takeoff and quite stable and forgiving in the air. The single engine gave quite enough power for the inexperienced pilot to handle.
A friend of mine owns one of the latest Piper Warrior III and I have taken several flights with him. The design of the basic airframe seems much as I remember it. A lot of the aeronautical electronics have been updated of course and the comfort of the seats have certainly improved from what I remember in the past when I was spending time in my Piper Warrior trainer. He uses the Piper Warrior III for business travel and to go on vacations and he claims it is faster and more comfortable than driving to his destination or waiting in line for commercial air travel.
The newest Piper Warrior III aircraft has a 35 foot wingspan. It has a Lycoming 160 horsepower four stroke engine. Takeoff is rated at 1620 feet so it would be quite at home in a small to medium sized airport. Range is about 500 miles which is about average for this size of aircraft. Because it is such a popular small airplane the Piper Warrior usually has a ready supply of parts and mechanics experienced with this model.
If I had to choose between the main competition for this class of aircraft which is the popular Cessna 172 it would be a hard choice. Both have essentially the same engine and specifications are somewhat similar so your choice might come down to how familiar you are with the aircraft. If you are in the market for this class of airplane you should test fly the Cherokee Warrior aircraft as you might find the visibility somewhat better and interior trim and styling more to your liking.
